Cash contributions
Gifts of cash and checks can be made by mailing or bringing them to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA 52240. Checks should be made payable to Iowa City Hospice.

Special Events
The Glenn Roberts Elks / Iowa City Hospice Golf Classic will be Monday, August 1, 2011, 7:30 am and 1:30 pm tee times.
The next Walk for Dignity is Sunday, April 17, 2011. Participate in or make a donation to our Walk for Dignity.
Memorial and Honorary Gifts
Memorial gifts are a beautiful tribute to the memory of a loved one. Memorial donors receive a thank you from Iowa City Hospice. We also notify the family of the individual memorialized that a gift has been made in their name.
Families often ask that gifts in memory of their loved one be directed to Iowa City Hospice. This request may be included in the obituary, for example: “Memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA 52240.”
Honorary gifts are another meaningful way to honor someone special on a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or other special day. The person honored will be notified of your gift.
Gifts of stock and appreciated securities
Gifts of appreciated assets such as stock can have tax benefits for you while being important to Iowa City Hospice. By making a gift of appreciated assets directly to Iowa City Hospice you can deduct the full market value if you itemize your taxes. Outright gifts of IRA assets
From now until December 31, 2011, you may make outright gifts of IRA assets directly to Iowa City Hospice. Under this provision your gift will count toward your annual required minimum distribution and will be excluded from your gross income. Another benefit of an outright gift of IRA assets is that you will be able to immediately see your gift in action.
- You must be aged 70½ or older at the time of the gift
- The transfer must be directly from the IRA to Iowa City Hospice
- You may give any amount up to a maximum of $100,000 before December 31, 2011

Deferred gifts of IRA and other retirement assets
Another way to use IRA assets in your charitable giving plans is to make Iowa City Hospice a primary or secondary beneficiary of all or a portion of your qualified IRA, retirement plan, or annuity. To do this, please contact your plan’s administrator to ask for a change of beneficiary form, and specify Iowa City Hospice, Inc. (our full legal name) as a beneficiary of the plan. Bequests
Donors often include a gift to Iowa City Hospice in their estate plans, most commonly through a charitable bequest in their will or trust. In preparing such a plan with your attorney, please use this sample language for your charitable bequest:
“I give to Iowa City Hospice, Inc., a nonprofit corporation of the State of Iowa, located at 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA 52240 whose taxpayer identification number is 42-1154098 (choose one of the following options),
- the sum of $______.
- _____percent or all of the residue of my estate.
- all of my interest in the following described property:_____.

Gifts of real estate and other physical property
Offers of gifts of real estate and other physical property such as artwork, etc. will be reviewed by our Board of Directors to determine our ability to accept the gift.
