Join us!

Join the fun and support a great cause as we venture from Willow Creek Park (Benton Street and Teg Drive) in Iowa City. Choose the more challenging course, or the shorter, less-hilly course. Both begin and end at the Hospice Volunteer Trail Site along the Willow Creek Park Trail.

Bring the whole family to enjoy the activities at the park before and after the Walk. While there is no registration fee to participate in the Walk, participants are encouraged to support Hospice by obtaining donations. All participants turning in $50 will receive a Hospice Pin. A long-sleeve Hospice t-shirt will be awarded to participants who collect $250 (pays for two days of Hospice care) or more.

The Walk will be held RAIN or SHINE on Sunday, April 25, 2004. Activities begin at 11am; the Walk starts at 1pm.

Adding life to days

Each year, Iowa City Hospice provides more than 18,000 patient care days to terminally ill patients and their families in seven Eastern Iowa counties, regardless of insurance coverage or financial ability. No patient or family is ever denied care because of an inability to pay. Iowa City Hospice relies on community support to provide this care.

100% of donations raised through the Walk for Dignity go to support Hospice care.

A wreath to remember

We invite all of you attending this year’s Walk to tie a ribbon on the hospice wreath as a symbol of remembrance for a loved one or a friend.

Honorary Chairs

In honor of their family members who have received Iowa City Hospice services, the Tom and Robert Finnegan families will serve as Honorary Chairs for the 2004 Walk for Dignity. Please join the Finnegans as they pay tribute to their loved ones and every family touched by the Hospice experience by participating in this community celebration of the love of life and the belief in dignified, comforting care at the end of life.

Form a team

What could make this year’s Walk more fun? Walk with your family, friends or co-workers as a team! Choose a team captain and team name and you can start recruiting team members. Teams are a great way to generate excitement, increase participation and raise more funds for hospice care. Teams raising the most money will be recognized.

Raise money

Provide support for two days of patient care, and earn a longsleeve Hospice t-shirt! Follow these five easy steps and bring $250 in donations to this year’s walk:

  1. Your own contribution $25
  2. Find 4 relatives to give $25
  3. Find 4 friends to give $15
  4. Find 4 co-workers to give $10
  5. Find 5 neighbors to give $5

You’ve reached $250!
