    This traveling trophy of wood and sandstone, made by Bill Roush and Dick Schwab, symbolizes the community support that is the foundation of the care provided by Iowa City Hospice. It will annually honor an Iowa City Hospice Walk for Dignity contributor. The trophy displays Hospice’s logo and provides space for your name or the name of your business. You can proudly display this trophy during the year to represent your support for hospice care.

Auction Procedures
  • Silent Auction
    Next to each silent auction item is a bid sheet containing the name of the item and a minimum bid. To bid, mark your bidder number and a bid amount on the form. Please adhere to minimum raises indicated on bid sheet. The closing of the Silent Auction will be announced at 7:00 PM, and the closing bid circled by the auction attendants at 7:00 is the final bid. High bidders for silent auction items will be announced during the live auction. Silent auction items can be picked up at the cashier’s table after you check out.

  • Live Auction
    A number of live auction items require prior arrangements. As a courtesy to all donors and to avoid disappointment, please contact the donors of items as soon as possible to inform them that you have the winning bid and to make necessary arrangements. When you check out, you will receive a gift certificate for these items that will include the name and phone number of the donor. If you join with friends to purchase an item, we ask that you pool your resources prior to checkout so one individual can pay for the item. Hospice will mail receipts to all purchasers for their portion of the purchase.

  • Checkout
    The cashier’s table will be located at the entrance to the kitchen. Your purchases will be organized by bidder number. Payment can be made by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard. All sales are final. Your receipt will show both the retail value and the purchase price for each item. Hospice is a 501-(c) (3) charitable organization and a portion your payment(s) may be tax deductible as a charitable contribution to the extent provided by law. Please consult your financial or tax advisor regarding the deductibility of any auction purchase. Please take your auction purchases with as you leave at the end of the evening.
